The service

What commercial and domestic tree work covers

Commercial and domestic tree work covers the full range of tree surgery: removals, reductions, dead wooding, stump grinding and garden clearance alongside tree work, carried out for homeowners, landlords, property managers, schools and businesses with trees on or near their site.

Domestic jobs are usually one-off: a tree that has outgrown its space, a hedge that needs taming, or storm damage to deal with in a private garden. Commercial and managed sites (offices, car parks, residential blocks, land with public access) often need tree work planned around opening hours, parking, deliveries or tenants, and sometimes as part of an ongoing maintenance arrangement.

Whatever the setting, a tree that is the wrong size, shape or condition for its surroundings carries risk to people, vehicles and buildings. Charlie Fellowes, Founder, has eight years of experience across both residential and commercial sites, is NPTC and LANTRA qualified, and carries £2 million public liability insurance on every job.

What happens when tree work is put off

Whether it is a garden or a commercial site, a tree that is left unmanaged tends to become more expensive and more disruptive to deal with the longer it waits.

Growing risk to people and vehicles

Overhanging branches above a driveway, car park or walkway become more likely to fail as they grow heavier and more exposed to wind.

Boundary and access disputes

Trees that encroach on neighbouring gardens or block access on shared or commercial sites tend to cause friction that is easier to resolve before it escalates.

Site and building damage

Roots can affect paving, drainage and foundations, while branches can damage roofs, gutters, signage and parked vehicles.

Common mistakes we see

  • ✕Treating tree work as optional on commercial sites until an incident forces the issue.
  • ✕Using unqualified labour for larger trees or trees near buildings, where the margin for error is small.
  • ✕Not planning access and timing around a business's operating hours, leading to unnecessary disruption.
  • ✕Overlooking garden clearance needs that go alongside tree work, leaving cut material and debris on site.

How it works

How we approach commercial and domestic jobs

  1. 01

    Site visit and assessment

We look at the tree or trees involved, the surrounding structures, and any access or timing constraints specific to a home or a commercial site.

  2. 02

    Quote and planning

You receive a quote covering the scope of work. On commercial sites this includes agreeing timing around operating hours, deliveries or tenant access.

  3. 03

    Scheduling

Work is booked in for a day and time that suits the site, with routine jobs carried out 7am to 6pm, seven days a week.

  4. 04

    Execution

The agreed work is carried out (removal, reduction, dead wooding, stump grinding or garden clearance alongside tree work) with the site kept safe throughout.

  5. 05

    Clearance and completion

All cut material and debris is removed as registered waste carriers, and payment is taken once the job is finished, with no deposit required at any stage.

Why choose a dedicated tree team for your site

One contractor for both settings

The same qualified team handles a single domestic garden tree and a larger commercial job, so the standard of work does not change with the size of the site.

Flexible scheduling

Work is planned around your hours: a quiet weekday for a business, a weekend for a family home, to keep disruption to a minimum.

Insured for the scale of the job

£2 million public liability cover applies whether the job is a single tree in a back garden or a multi-tree contract on a commercial site.

Clear, upfront arrangement

No deposit is taken and payment is only due once the work is complete, which keeps the financial risk with us until the job is done.

Full clearance included

Garden clearance alongside tree work means the site is left usable, not covered in brash and offcuts.

Track record across settings

A 9.42/10 Checkatrade rating and 5/5 on MyBuilder reflect work carried out across both residential gardens and larger managed sites.

In detail

Commercial and domestic tree work in detail

What's included

Commercial and domestic tree work spans tree removal, crown reduction, dead wooding, stump grinding, and garden clearance carried out alongside tree work. The same methods and equipment apply regardless of setting; the difference lies in access, scheduling and the number of trees involved.

Residential gardens

In a domestic garden, the priority is usually protecting what is close by: fences, sheds, greenhouses, patios and neighbouring boundaries. Access is often tighter, so smaller equipment and careful rigging are used to bring material down without damaging lawns, beds or paths.

Commercial and managed sites

On commercial sites (offices, retail units, residential blocks with communal grounds, or land with public footfall), tree work is planned to minimise disruption to staff, tenants, customers and visitors. This can mean working early, late, or on a weekend, and coordinating access with site managers or facilities teams.

Tree Preservation Orders and consents

Both domestic and commercial sites can be subject to a Tree Preservation Order or sit within a conservation area. Checking whether this applies and obtaining any necessary permission before work begins is the responsibility of the customer or site owner. On larger commercial sites with several trees, it is worth checking this across the whole site before work is scheduled, rather than tree by tree, so the full programme of work can be planned in one go.

Commercial & Domestic Tree Work FAQs

How much does commercial or domestic tree work cost?+

Pricing is not published since it depends on the number of trees, their size and site access. We provide a quote after an assessment, take no deposit, and payment is due once the work is finished.

How long does a typical job take?+

A single domestic tree can often be completed in a day, while larger commercial contracts or multiple trees take longer. Timing is confirmed once the scope of work is agreed.

What's the process for getting work booked in?+

We assess the site, provide a quote, agree a date and time that suits you, carry out the work, and clear the site before payment is taken.

Do you offer a guarantee on the work?+

No written guarantee is offered on any job, domestic or commercial. You only pay once the work on site has been completed.

How long will the results last?+

Removals and stump grinding are permanent. Reductions and dead wooding are maintenance work that most trees need repeating every few years as they continue to grow.

Can you work outside normal hours on commercial sites?+

Routine work is carried out 7am to 6pm, seven days a week. Genuine emergencies, such as storm damage, are covered 24/7, whether the site is domestic or commercial.

Do you do garden clearance as well?+

Garden clearance is offered alongside tree work rather than as a standalone service, so it's included where it's part of the same job.

Which areas do you cover?+

We work across Kingston upon Thames, Ealing, Farnborough, Richmond upon Thames, Watford, Maidenhead, Beaconsfield, Hammersmith, Fulham, Guildford and the surrounding areas, for both homes and businesses.

Can you provide ongoing maintenance visits for a site?+

Yes, a schedule of repeat visits can be agreed for sites that need regular dead wooding, reductions or inspections, rather than booking each visit separately as problems arise. This is often used by site managers who want tree risk reviewed on a set cycle rather than reactively.

Do you work on managed estates or blocks of flats?+

Yes, tree work on shared grounds or managed estates is carried out in the same way as any commercial site, with access and timing agreed with whoever manages the grounds.

Can you handle multiple trees across one site in a single visit?+

Yes, multiple trees on a single domestic or commercial site are commonly assessed and quoted together, which allows the work to be scheduled and carried out in one visit where practical.
